I don't even know where to begin. Joey was more then a friend, he was part of my family and it is an honor and a blessing to have grown up with Joey & his family. He is truly going to be missed & never forgotten.  You will forever live in my heart Joey 

     Mr.  Joseph was a jewel!!!  He was a very humble man who was filled with immense wisdom, and who cherished the simple things in life.  I thank God for the three years that I worked with him at Elite Scholars Academy.   He would always find the time to stop by my room where he would impart his words of wisdom as we discussed various topics:  our undying faith,  the issues of life,  politics,  work ethics,  his love for the Royal Knights of Elite Scholars Academy, etc.   Mr. Joseph was a man of integrity, a hard worker, and the epitome of one of God's angels right here on earth.  Indeed he was a jewel, and now, he gets to wear his crown.
   I pray that God will comfort your heart, uplift your spirit, and bring you peace.  May God bless you and your family.  May He wrap His loving arms of comfort around you,  and continue to keep you in His care.

We cannot even begin to put into words how Joeys death sadness us.  We first met  Joey through Bud Atkins and they were about sixteen.  Joey always remained friends with us and we never knew when he would ring the door bell.  It has been as late as 11 pm.  I would always answer the door and he would say what are you'll doing.   I would say come on in Joey and always get a BIG HUG from him.  We would set and talk sometimes for hours. Joey had a smile that would light up a room and a heart as big as all out doors.  Sometimes Joey would sing for us.   Zane and I talked about Joey often.   Joey loved hot jalapeno peppers he would say you got any Jalapenos,  Zane would go get the jar and Joey would begin to eat.  Joey did not even drink water with them.  Zane and I would laugh and say 
Joey you have to drink something he always replied no thanks.   Joeys eyes were like pools of warm water and I always told him how beautiful they were.  Zane and I never had children of our on but Joey was like a son to us.  He was always loving and kind.  Joey you will always be loved and missed by Zane and I.  It was a true blessing to know and love you.  Our prayers to the family. 

There are no words to tell you how sorry I am. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Mr. Joseph at Elite Scholars Academy. He could talk your ear off, but, more importantly, he would listen with his whole heart and come back weeks later to tell you that he had been thinking about something you said to him. Mr. Joseph would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him. I know how helpful he always was to me and I saw the little things he did for our students on a daily basis, from helping them find things to buying kids snacks if they were hungry. He loved his family and always (always) talked about them. The halls of Elite Scholars have felt empty since he's been gone and now our hearts are a little emptier too. We will miss him dearly.

The very first day that I met Mr. Joseph at Elite Scholars Academy, I knew he was sent from God.  Our time together throughout the day was always meaningful and a learning experience.  We could talk for hours and not be lost for words.  He was committed to everything that he did.  He never once complained.  He was always positive and encouraging and I loved that about him.  He had a great spirit.  I miss his earthly presence but I know I will always carry our friendship in my Heart.  My condolences to his loved ones.  May the Peace of God comfort you all.

Mr. Joseph made walking down the halls of Elite Scholars Academy a joy.  No matter how you were feeling, he could be counted on for a smile, a warm greeting, a joke, or a compliment.  Mr. Joseph will forever be a member of the Elite Scholars Academy family and will truly be missed.  I am honored and blessed to have encountered one of God's angels here on Earth.  

My heart goes out to the Stegall family. Joey always had a smile on his face and made sure everyone around him did as well. In high school he always kept us laughing. Praying for all the Stegall family ! Fly High Joey!!

Although I've only known you for a short while, you made an everlasting impression on my heart. You are an awesome gentlemen with an undying spirit. You will be missed daily. No more sorrow, no more pain. Look forward to chatting with you again someday. Until then my friend......

Joey,  I love you to the moon and beyond! I'm so sorry I didn't know you were sick, I thought you were on a "secret mission" for the military! Well you are a definite a soldier of prestige now, the biggest rank of all!!!! Don't forget to meet me at the pearly gates when my day comes,  I will miss our three hour chats and I will forever keep you in my heart!!!! I love you and I will be praying for your wife, children and your fur babies!!!! Now go rest up for our visit and tell my Momma hello for me,  I know she will be there for you.  Xoxoxo

Joseph Brantley Stegall, age 51, of Morrow, Georgia passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2018. Joey was born March 7, 1967 in Atlanta, GA to Anderson and Laurie Stegall. After graduating high school, Joey joined the US Army and served our beloved country for 16 years. He loved working at the Elite Scholars Academy, enjoyed playing his guitar, and singing. Mr. Stegall never met a stranger and was a comedian at heart, he was such a funny guy. Joey was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Stegall;  mother, Laurie Stegall; Brother, Scott Stegall; children, Lauren (Heath) Shaw, Justin (Addis) Reece, and Randy Chastain; brother- in- law, Bryan (Jan Townly) Griggs; niece and nephews, Jacob, Joshua, Noah, Kevin, Amanda, Evan, and Brandon; and beloved animals, dogs, Elvis, Romeo, Emma, Lola and cat, Jazzman.
