Laurette was born on June 10, 1937, in Saint Michel de l’Attalaye, Haiti, to Eva Brizard and Emmanuel Pitton.
She left Haiti in 1965 and migrated to New York, where she began a family. After living there for a few years, she returned to Haiti with her husband and two children. A few years later, Laurette once again relocated—this time to New Jersey with her children—in pursuit of a better life.
She worked diligently as a caregiver for individuals with mental and physical challenges, treating her clients like family. They, in turn, cherished her presence and looked forward to seeing her every day. After retiring in 2002, she moved to McDonough, Georgia, to be closer to her children.
Laurette lived a life filled with grace, love, and resilience. She was known for the love she gave and inspired others to do the same. Deeply connected to the Lord, she meditated daily, fasted often, and prayed faithfully for her entire family. She found joy in listening to classical music, tending to her garden, and sending thoughtful cards to loved ones on every occasion.
Laurette is preceded in death by her daughter Ludmilla Raphael (husband Bernard). She is survived by her devoted son Fritz Phanor Jr (and daughter in law Betty); her beloved grandchildren: Sabrina, Jeffrey (and his wife Alexis), Samantha and Laula and her cherished great-grandchildren: Ceyana, Kayanna, Caylee, Najee, Camauri, Jeffrey Jr., and Mila—each of whom held a special place in her heart. She shared beautiful memories with her dear siblings François Brizard, Josette Piton, Edrice Piton, Eveline Piton, Marie Andrée Piton, Nicole Piton, Paulene Piton, all of whom remained close to her, along with her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Laurette is now reunited with her beloved daughter, Ludmilla Raphael. They are together again in eternal peace. Her life was a true testament to kindness and love. Though she has gone to be with the Lord, her memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
In this time of mourning, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the following families: Phanor, Raphael, Pitton, Brizard, Etienne, Charles, Lecoin, Cantave, Desrosiers, Vanpelt, Edouville, Jean, and Delerme.
