Mr. Lee Alvin Cole, Jr., age 89 of McDonough, Georgia passed away July 5, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lee Cole, Sr. and Bernice Ingram Cole. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Collis. Lee faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of Decatur Heights Baptist Church and was a Mason. Lee retired as Chief of Police employed 32 years with the City of Decatur Police Department. He then worked 17 years with Panola Mountain Park in artifact restoration. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Betty Tomlin Cole; daughter, Linda Cole Mahan of McDonough; son, Mike (Marilyn) Cole of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Michael Davis Cole, Kelley Cole, Tammie Leigh Fernandez, Renae Mahan Glover and Eric Mahan; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Justin, Trystan, Caden, Hudson, John, Corbin, Collin and Devin; brother, Bennie (Rachel) Cole of Jonesboro; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
