Margaret Hanes

Mrs. Margaret P. Hanes of McDonough, Ga passed away on February 4, 2021. Margaret was born in Atlanta, Ga on March 8,1927 to the late William and Betty Pooser and is survived by her husband and best friend Martin "Buddy" Hanes.

Margaret and Buddy became friends when she was 12 years old and when she was old enough to date they would go almost every Sunday evening to see a movie at the Fox Theater. When Buddy joined the Navy during World War II, Margaret wrote him a letter every day until her beau returned. On June 7, 1947 Margaret married Buddy and began a journey that would last for the next 74 years. Together they owned and operated Forest Park Office Supply until retiring and focusing on her love of traveling and cooking.

Margaret is known as a true southern belle and was known for referring to others as "sweetie pie" and "sug" while she herself was best described as "sweet".

A celebration of Margaret Hanes' life will be held in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Ga on Sunday February 7, 2021 at 2 pm with friends being greeted 1 hour prior. Dr. J.J. Turner, minister of McDonough Church of Christ where Margaret was a member, will officiate along with Minister Jeff Wilder.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret has asked that donations be made to McDonough Church of Christ
