Mary "Arlene" Newell, age 73, of Grayson, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022. Arlene was born August 16, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late James Denmon and Cecil McLaine Bishop. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School, Class of 1966. She was preceded in death by her son, Ken Newell. Arlene was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church where she held many positions including church treasurer. She loved doting on and spoiling her grandbabies. Arlene enjoyed listening to classic country, Solid Gold oldies and Elvis. She also had a green thumb which was evident in her vegetable garden. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Brad Newell of Grayson; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Scott Stump of Loganville; daughter-in-law, Melissa Newell McKenzie of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Hunter Bradford Newell, Alex Stump, Meaghan Newell, Macie Newell, Logan Stump and Savannah McKenzie; brother, Dennis (Keni) Bishop of McDonough; sister, Helen Bishop (Mark) Donnelly. Friends may visit the family Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Arlene.
