Me'lik Mehki Etienne 22 (affectionately known as Me'likie by his mom and Me'liko by his dad), blessed the world with his presence at 12:29 am on the morning of Wednesday, December 25, 2002; without knowing anyone and everyone who would eventually cross his path will forever be changed for the better.
It is with great sorrow and disbelief that Me'lik is outlived by his dad, Watson Etienne and mom Chuntia Shirley. He is survived by his wife Danielle Jisrelle Meskoto Kowo, siblings: big brother DeAndre U. Etienne, baby brother Castiel N. Etienne, big sister Shaianne L. Etienne, and twin baby sisters Shanyah L. Etienne and Shamyah L. Etienne. Grieving his lost are numerous loved ones including his grandfather, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and a countless number of extended family and friends.
Throughout his short-lived life Me'lik loved spending time with his siblings, actually he had no choice, as everywhere he turned one of them was always there. As a child Me'lik was two handfuls as he always seemed to get into one mischief or the next. As the years went by Me'lik transitioned from a mischievous and loving child into a charming, well-educated, well-rounded, mature, loving and selfless young adult. Me'lik was the kind of brother that was always there for his siblings and a self-appointed bodyguard for his sisters. Me'lik was the kind of son that made his parents grateful each day to God for blessing them with him.
Me'lik had the unique ability to create his own special relationship with all that he knew whether he knew them from the day he was born or only for one day. However, his greatest relationship was the one that he had with the Lord. As Me'lik journeyed through life his faith in God grew into a personal relationship with Him. Me'lik was on a spiritual journey that drew him closer to God.
During his years spent in The Bahamas, Me'lik loved going to the beach with his family, in fact, this is how his love for nature was ignited. Me'lik loved nature. He also took great pride in his health and physique. He enjoyed exercising almost as much as he enjoyed breathing. There was never an exercise (or in the words of his mom - stunt) that was too extreme for him to try.
Me'lik excelled in school, always maintaining high marks and as a result, he earned many accolades. After graduating Grady High School, Me'lik attended Kennesaw State University (KSU). During his time at KSU, Me'lik came to the realization that he wanted to be a part of the workforce and worked at numerous establishments. Thereafter, he decided that he wanted more than a mere job, he wanted a stable career. Thus, he decided to join the United States Air Force.
In the Air Force, Me'lik came into his own once again excelling at every endeavor that he set his mind upon. While there, his love of nature continued to grow. He was awestruck by the beautiful mountainous view at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and spent the majority of his free time going on long walks, hiking, swimming and camping. In fact, it was on the evening of Saturday, May 24, 2025, while enjoying another day of camping with dear friends as well as friends he had just met that Me'lik experienced his last day of living and loving life. What started off as another beautiful day filled with love and laughter doing what he loved best, eventually turned into a day that gave rise to Me'lik's eternal sleep.
Even though Me'lik is now one with one of his greatest loves - nature, his overwhelmingly welcoming smile and his selfless heart made of pure unadulterated love lives on. Me'lik has left behind a void in the hearts of all that loved him, still love him and will FOREVER LOVE HIM.
May you continue to sleep in peace in God's loving arms Me'lik Mehki Etienne.
