Mr. Mervin Cranford Holton, Sr., age 88 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 20, 2016. He was born in Baconton, Georgia to the late A.W. Holton, Sr. and Jewel Freeman Holton. He was preceded in death by siblings, Tracy Holton, Otis “Hot Shot” Holton and Jeannine Silvers. Mervin faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a crane operator for Rogers Bridge Company for 32 years and was a member of Moore’s Temple Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and church family. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bertha Holton; children, Charles (Wendy Rentschler) Holton of Cleveland, Shirley Boggs of McDonough, Mervin Holton, Jr. of McDonough, Tom (Kimberly) Holton of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Matthew Holton, Zachary Boggs, Blake Boggs, Samantha Holton, Devin Holton; siblings, Jeanell Meeks of Camilla, Hazel Burnett of Camilla, A.W. Holton, Jr. of Albany. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 – 1:00 pm at Moore’s Temple Baptist Church. Pastor Allen Burns and Jerry Everett will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
