Mike grew up and around Clayton County and graduated from North Clayton High School. He attended Jacksonville State College on a football scholarship where he met his wife Debbie.
Michael, lovingly known as Chopper by his colleagues, retired from FedEx after a dedicated 32-year career, where he was known for his hard work, reliability, and commitment to his team. Outside of work, he was a steady, caring presence to his family and all who knew him.
Mike was a devoted husband to his widowed wife Debbie Chappell of 39 year’s. Mike is survived by their two children Brittney Hayes, and Brandon Chappell. He was a proud Pops to his grandchildren Addyson, Brayden, and Anniston, who brought tremendous joy into his life.
A graveside service will be held at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Georgia, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Michael’s life.
Mike/Pops/Dad will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
