Ron Chastain went by many names; son, husband, uncle, father, but his favorite was Pawpaw to his 7 grand kids. He was the absolute best dad and grandfather that anyone could ask for.
Ron held many jobs throughout his life from firefighter to truck driving, but his absolute passion was selling real estate. He was the rare type of person who truly loved their job day in and day out.
He loved every moment at Jackson Lake from a few months old until right before the end. He always looked forward to the annual beach trip with all of his grandkids to Panama City Beach. He was present at every child and grandchild event that he could possibly make it to whether it was sports, plays or anything in between.
He was a passionate Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and even Falcons fans in the good times and the bad never wavering. He would even place bets on his teams in Vegas, after hitting many hours at the Craps table.
His famous voicemail that his kids would hear was always the “hey call me” because no matter what, he had to leave you a voicemail. He would call his kids with the most random conversations you could imagine; of course, always starting with ‘hold on let me get this blue tooth connected’; whether it was discussing sports, “this tik-Tok” he sent you, or just life in general it was always a great conversation.
Ron never met a stranger in his life and could make a lifelong friend out of someone in just a 5 minute conversation.
Ron is survived by those he loved the most, his wife of 48 years Rhonda Chastain, his children Gregory (aka Greg) Chastain, Amy Peacock, and Julie Kelley and her husband Thomas (aka TJ) and his precious grandchildren Elizabeth and Michael Chastain, Addison, Carly and Brooke Peacock and Madelyn and Luke Kelley.
Ron's memory and legacy also lives on through his mother Carolyn Ivie Chastain and his brothers Daniel (aka Danny) Chastain and his wife Susan, Benjamin (aka Ben) Chastain, and Andrew Chastain and his wife Maria as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His love was unconditional just like that of his golden retriever “Marley”
