William Hume Bishop, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born in Birmingham, AL on March 22, 1942 to the late William H. Bishop Sr. and Edna Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bishop and his daughter Lisa Bishop. William H. Bishop was a loving, humorous and hardworking man who provided a good life for his wife and family over the years. He met his wife Linda in Memphis, TN and they were married in 1962. His friends called him Bill the same as his Father William Sr. Bill was a more than average baseball player and at the age of 15 he hit two back to back home runs out of Pelican Stadium in New Orleans during a youth baseball tournament. Bill honorably served in both the US Navy and the US Army which may sound strange to some but let’s just say he was a mischievous young man growing up and loved adventure. Of course Bill was an Alabama football fan no need to say more. Bill held many jobs in his life from furniture salesman to construction Foreman with McCarthy Paving Company. In the early 1990's Bill was seriously injured in a car accident that would have left most men unable to walk but Bill triumphed and never gave up his will to fight. Bill enjoyed listening to early Rock n Roll and his favorite movie was Shane with Alan Ladd. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, going to the casino, trips to Vegas, Atlantic City, Mississippi, liked poker and blackjack, planting flowers, especially Camelias, shopping on QVC and sunbathing. He kept a tan year round and always wore a flattop haircut. He loved eating Catfish and he loved his favorite beer BudLight. Bill attended Sharon Baptist church in McDonough, GA until the death of his beloved wife Linda who passed in 2012. Bill was a member of the Moose Club and a recent resident at Autumn Village Two in Jackson, GA. William H. Bishop Jr. faced much adversity growing up and faced much family tragedy later in life but he never gave up on life nor complained about the hand he was dealt. He was an inspiration to all and will be missed, may he rest in peace. He is survived by his sister, Anne Ramey, daughter, Cheryl Pope, son, William (Lillian) Bishop, granddaughters, Katrina Robertson, Lisa Isabella Bishop and Priscilla Nicole Bishop. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
