Alice Garcia

Alice Garcia of McGregor went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, August 12, 2011, at the age of 76. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with her son, Pastor Julian Garcia officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garcia was born February 21, 1935, in McGregor, Texas, the daughter of the late John Paloma and Teresa (DeLeon) Alonso and attended school in Moody. For about twenty years, she was employed in commercial sewing factories as a seamstress. In 2000, she returned to McGregor from Waco. She was a member of New Life Covenant Church in McGregor where she was active in the help ministry.

Also preceding her in death were brothers, John Alonso, Jr., Alex Alonso, Frank Alonso and a sister Teresa Guerra.

Those left to cherish her memory are six sons, San Juan Garcia and wife Nora, Robert Garcia, Jr. and fiance’ Susan Russell, Jesus R. Garcia and wife Yolanda, Andres Garcia. Julian Garcia and wife Anita, Steve Garcia; two daughters, Mary Garcia, Hope Bankhead and husband Gary, Jr.; two brothers, Otilio Alonso and wife Bea, Lupe Alonso; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Garcia, Angie Garcia, Michelle Kraft and husband Josh, Andres Garcia, Jr., Gracie Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Jr., Cynthia Zavala and husband Jamie, Justin Merghart, Lena Garcia, Gabby Merghart, Kyle Bankhead, Haley Bankhead; four great grandchildren, Alexis Moore, Anissa Garcia, Ezmiee Garcia and Jacoby Kraft.

Casketbearers will be Steve Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Robert Garcia, San Juan Garcia, Steve Garcia and Justin Merghart.
