

Arthur E. Britton, Sr. of McGregor, Formerly of Temple, died early Friday morning, August 19, 2011, at the age of 80. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 22, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Curtis Jones and Rev. Jim Fitzhugh officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Viewing will commence at 9 A.M. Sunday with a formal visitation from 6 to 8 P.M. at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Britton was born June 24, 1931, in Bell County, Texas, the son of the late Rufus Wilburn and Avis Annie (Bilbrey) Britton. He served his country in the United States Navy. For several years, he owned and operated a mechanic business in Martindale. In 1999, he moved to McGregor from Martindale and was employed by A&A Food Mart as an attendant and later as a custodian with Duster Campers until his 2002 retirement. On June 9, 2003, he married Rosie L. Britton in McGregor.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Rufus Britton, Jr. and sister-in-law, Connie.
Survivors include his wife Rosie of McGregor; a son Arthur Britton, Jr. of Martindale; a step-son, Duncan Cope of Saratoga Springs, New York; three stepdaughters, Dianna Cope and husband Chris Carter of McGregor, Denise Cope of Lewisville, Renessa Niemeier and husband Brent of Crawford; ten grandchildren, Amilia, Michael, Anthony Aviles, D.J., Matthew, Logan Cope, Alexandra Segars, John Carter, Cheyenne, Colten Niemeier; two great grandchildren, Isaiah Aviles, Bentley Diaz and numerous cousins in the Belton area.
