

Chuck Lassetter of Hewitt died Sunday afternoon, September 25, 2011, at the age of 75. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Robert Vinton and Rev. Kip Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home.
Chuck was born March 2, 1936, in Waco, Texas, the son of the late Frank Francis and Viney Orene (Bundrick) Lassetter and attended school in Waxahachie. In 1960, he moved to Hewitt and was employed by General Tire and Rubber Company for nine years. In 1998 he retired from Lochridge-Priest as a sales manager. On July 23, 1962, he married Shirley Ann Zacharias in Bellmead. For a few years, he served his country in the United States Army.
Chuck was a member of Country Worship Cowboy Church in Lott. He was a member of Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association where he was a gold card member. He was instrumental in the organization of the Central Youth Rodeo in McGregor in 1991. He was a member of the PRCA Rodeo Association, the McGregor Saddle Club, and the Central Texas Horse Show Association. He enjoyed calf roping, riding horses and fishing. He was a mentor to many young children in teaching them the finer points of roping. He also enjoyed coaching almost all kinds of sporting activities and adored his grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was a son Chip Lassetter on November 28, 1987.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Shirley Lassetter; two daughters, Sharon Jones and husband Steve of Rosebud, Charlotte Pierce and husband Robby of Hilltop Lakes; three brothers, Cecil Lassetter and wife Cheryl of Milford, Ed Lassetter and wife Marsha of Milano, Allen Lassetter and wife Sharon of Elm Mott; three sisters, O.J. Ellis of Houston, Martha Niswanger and husband Ron of Mart, Melba Niswanger of College Station; three grandchildren, Zachary Oliver, Ashley Oliver, Shelli Jones and his beloved Dachshund Oscar.
