

Christine Thompson of McGregor died Saturday night, December 15, 2012, at the age of 92. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, 500 S. Madison St. McGregor with Rev. Joe Chamness officiating. Viewing will commence at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 20, 2012, until 8:00 P.M. at Cole Funeral Home. Interment will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Forest Park Cemetery in Houston, Texas under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 W. Fifth Street, McGregor.
On February 28, 1920, a little girl was born to Charles and Augusta (Stuth) Wellman in Moody, Texas and her name was Christine. Christine was reared in the Moody area where she began her education at Buckhorn and later at Eagle Springs. On October 11, 1942, she married Edwin Lewis Thompson in Georgetown, Texas. After forty-six years of marriage, he preceded her in death March 19, 1989. She later moved to Highlands near Houston where she was a member of Highlands Methodist Church. In 1992, she moved to McGregor where she worked with the Senior Citizens Center and became a member of First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Builders Class.
Also preceding her in death were brothers, Roy Wellman, two step-sons, Francis Thompson, Billy Thompson, William Edwin Thompson; three sisters, Irene Morgan, Katy Zimmerman and Edna Kelley.
Survivors include a step-son, Edwin Earl Thompson of Highlands; seventeen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; three nieces and five nephews.
