

Frances Farmer of McGregor died early Thursday morning, April 22, 2010, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Carroll Hambrick officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Farmer was born January 12, 1926, in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter f the late Roy Russell and Grace Mae (Miller) Smith and attended school in Cisco, Texas. In 1943, she became a McGregor resident, moving here from Moody, Texas. Frances was employed as an inspector from 1947 to 1949, with Waco Garment Company and later from 1949 until 1951, by Wolfe Manufacturing. On March 2, 1944, she married Will I. Farmer in Gatesville, Texas. After forty-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death November 1, 1986.
Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed doing things for others. She volunteered on a regular basis at Westview Manor Nursing Home in McGregor and was an active member of College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor before joining Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Waco.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Roy Lee Smith, Gene Smith, J.E. Smith and a sister, Louise Anderson.
Survivors include a sister, Tommie Lou Wilkerson of Temple; several nieces and nephews.
Casketebearers will be J.T. Counts, Cliff Farmer, James Farmer, Jay Farmer, Kermit Farmer, David Glover, Tony Harrison and Weldon Wilkerson.
