

Joyce Wiley of McGregor died Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2010, at the age of 71. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, march 5, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wiley was born March 27, 1938, in McGregor, Texas the daughter of the late Bert E. and Ruby (Springfield) Smith where she attended school. On December 17, 1955, she married Dewey Brentley “Hunkey” Wiley in McGregor. After forty-five years of marriage, he preceded her in death June 7, 2001. Prior to her 2000 retirement, Smeed Manufacturing employed her in the binding department for about twenty-five years. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church where, in earlier years, she taught Sunday School in the Children’s Department.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Cotton Smith, R.V. Smith; three sisters, Marie West, Norma Jean Blake, Alma Howard and a grandson, Michael Bottoms.
Survivors include two sons, David Wayne Wiley and wife Susan of Bruceville-Eddy, Darrell Glen Wiley and wife Karen of McGregor; three daughters, Debra LaJuan Bottoms and husband Donald, Christal Gail Diaz and husband John, Tasha Kay Valdez and husband Omar all of McGregor; four sisters, Ruby Casey and husband H.J. of Waco, Frances Barlow of Fairfield, Bobbie Pruett of Gatesville, Patsy Stewart of Fairfield; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
