
Larry Tucker of Moody died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the age of 71. Graveside services and interment will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor, with Rev. Mickey Fugitt officiating. There will not be any visitation.
Mr. Tucker was born June 5, 1940, in Meridian, Texas, the son of the late Cecil Rhodes and Aileen Thelma (Jordan) Tucker. In 1958, he graduated from Meridian High School where he was active in the F.F.A. program. On January 8, 1959, he married Tanya Kathleen Brooks. Through the years, the grocery business was his passion. In 1960 he moved to McGregor where he was employed by Witte’s Food Store until 1987, at which time he moved to Moody to form a partnership with his brother Rex Tucker. The two of them formed Triad Food Store which he operated until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church in McGregor. He was a member of McGregor Masonic Lodge #376 A.F. & A.M. where he was a master mason. In addition to the grocery business, he enjoyed fishing and being with his family.
Also preceding him in death was a son, David Tucker; a brother, Homer William Tucker and a sister, Jane Hall.
Survivors include a daughter, Tami (Tucker) Vaughan and husband randy of McGregor; two brothers, Charles R. Tucker of Clifton; Rex Tucker and wife Earlene of McGregor; four grandchildren, Marshall Tucker of Waco, Meagan Morris of Dallas, Alicia Benitez, Mariyah Tucker both of McGregor; two great grandchildren, Jayden Benitez and Jordan Benitez both of McGregor.
