

Louise Olsovsky Walters of McGregor died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Father Jose Azcona officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Walters was born February 25, 1923, in Hoehn, Texas, the daughter of the late Louie J. and Bertha (Wachsman) Olsovsky. She attended school in West and later obtained her GED. On May 10, 1943, she married William Franklin (Bill) Walters in Sioux City, Iowa. That same year, she moved to McGregor where she made her home until Bill returned from the service. After fifty-six years of marriage, he preceded her in death, September 25, 1999.
Mrs. Walters was employed at various places in McGregor. For ten years she was a dietary supervisor at Westview Manor Nursing Home. She later was employed as a salesperson at Lee Hardware, Keith Hardware and Hidden Talents.
Mrs. Walters was a Charter Member of St. Eugene Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Alter Society and took part in various activities of the church. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and used her talents in the magic Fingers Quilting Club. She volunteered at the Regis St. Elizabeth gift shop and the McGregor Founders Day Festival for many years. She also enjoyed cake decorating, working with ceramics and enjoying time with her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Dorothy Hykel and Bertha Kousal.
Survivors include two sons, W.F. (Bill) Walters, Jr. and wife Tammie of Hewitt, John Walters of McGregor; four daughters, Charlene Elliott and husband Dean of McGregor, Diane Lawrence of McGregor, Denise Hefner and husband David of Garland, Betty Frase and husband John of Houston; a brother, Louie W. Olsovsky and wife Evelyn of Duncanville; three sisters, Irene Patterson and husband Henry of Waco, Lena Kallus and husband Gilbert of Waco, Tracy Compton and M.L. of Crawford; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Active casketbearers will be Michael Lawrence, Michael Elliott, Darrell Elliot, Jason Elliott, Preston Frase and Kevin Walters. Honorary casketbearers will be Chris Elliott, Tyler Elliott, Aaron Lawrence, Alec Lawrence and Triston Lawrence.
