

LoVella Crouch of McGregor died early Monday morning, February 6, 2012, at the age of 98. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wedneday, February 8, 2012, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Reverend Terry Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Crouch was born September 5, 1913, in Palo Pinto County, Texas the daughter of the late Ernest Udolphus and Grace (Hart) Baker. She began her education at Ingleside School where she played basketball and was a 1933 graduate of Strawn High school where she also played basketball. She continued her education at Decatur Baptist College in Decatur. On September 1, 1934, she married Earl Crouch in Olney, Texas. After fifty-four years of marriage, he preceded her in death October 29, 1988. For many years, she was employed by Amsler Hardware and Lumber as a bookkeeper. Lovella and Earl owned and operated Mountain Lumber Company until their retirement in 1981 at which time they moved to Osage. In 1993, she returned to McGregor from Osage. She was a member of First Baptist Church of McGregor where she was a member of the Ruth Class and, in earlier years, taught Sunday School. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was honored in 2007 as a fifty year member. Sporting events especially baseball and football was a passion of hers as well as needle point and reading.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Imare Neal and Nelma Lee.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Hackfeld) Kneller and husband Larry of New Braunfels, Peggy Lehrmann and husband Harold of Plano, Sally Crouch Elmore of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
