Lynda Howard McCorkle

Lynda McCorkle of Jonesboro, formerly of McGregor, went to be with her Lord, Saturday morning, October 22, 2011, at the age of 73. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Matt Dossey and Rev. Miles Miears officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. McCorkle was born September 11, 1938, in McGregor, Texas the daughter of the Olan Floyd and Billie Lou (Morrison) Howard. She attended school in McGregor where she was a member of the Bowwows and a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. On April 15, 1955, she married Wade Allen McCorkle in Belton, Texas. She has made her home in Jonesboro since 1999 when she moved from Houston. She was an active member of Jonesboro Baptist Church where she participated in ladies Bible studies and served on various committees.

Throughout her life, she loved family, animals, flowers, vegetable gardening and most importantly reading her Bible and loving her Lord. She also loved to cook for others and providing care for her mother. She was a faithful servant to her church and always putting others first.

Preceding her in death was her father, Olan Howard, a grandson, Matthew McCorkle and her beloved dog, Gus.

Survivors include her mother, Billie Howard of Jonesboro; her husband of fifty-six wonderful years, Wade McCorkle; three sons, Ricky McCorkle of Waller, Allen McCorkle and wife Leslie of Tyler, Randy McCorkle and wife Janice of Magnolia; a daughter, LaJuanna Flournoy and husband Bob of Houston; a brother, Robert Howard and wife Wanda of Jonesboro; a sister, Sue Woods and Husband Jerry of Spring; eight grandchildren Katherine Flournoy, Chris McCorkle, Jon McCorkle, Brian Flournoy, Tristen Call, Joe McCorkle, Aaron McCorkle, Josh McCorkle; two great grandsons, Michael McCorkle and Andrew McCorkle.
