Ricardo Casarez

Richard Casarez of McGregor died early Wednesday morning, January 29, 2014, at the age of 86. Viewing will commence at 9 A.M. Friday, January 30, 2014, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 31, 2014, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery.

Mr. Casarez was born July 7, 1929, in Orange Texas, the son of the late Epimenio and Feliciana (Corbonya) Casarez and attended school in Mathis. At an early age he moved to McGregor where he was in the produce business for over sixty years. On February 28, 1951, he married Jacoba Ruiz in McGregor. After fifty-nine years of marriage, she preceded him in death September 12, 2011.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Richard Casarez, Jr. and wife Lucille, Eddie Casarez, Jessie Casarez all of McGregor, A.P. Casarez and wife Kristie of McGregor; seven daughters, Jane Casarez of Baycliff, Tina Owens and husband Randy of McGregor, China Malone and husband George of Copperas Cove, Mary Konzen and husband David of Richmond, Virginia, Lupe White of Oglesby, Jacoba Jurick of New Riley Township, Michigan, Suzie Skirvin and husband Shawn of San Antonio and seventy nine grandchildren and great grandchildren.
