

Teresa Guerra of McGregor died Sunday evening, March 27, 2011, at the age of 77. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Jose Luis Azon as celebrant. Interment will follow the service in McGregor Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited by Deacon Victor Beltran at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor.
Mrs. Guerra was born August 16, 1933, in the South Bosque Community of McLennan County, Texas, the daughter of the late John and Teresa (DeLeon) Alonzo. At an early age, she moved to the Neff Park area of Moody where she attended school. On February 2, 1957, she married Margarito “Maggie” Guerra in McGregor. That same year they moved to McGregor where they made their home. After twenty-eight years of marriage, he preceded her in death December 18, 1985. For five years, McGregor Independent School District employed her as a kitchen assistant until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church in McGregor, where in earlier years, she served on the alter society. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening. In her later years she took great pride in looking after her widowed friends.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, John Alonso, Jr., Alex Alonso and Frank Alonso.
Survivors include a son, David Guerra and wife Mary Ann of Arlington; a daughter, Susana Privett of Grand Prairie; two brothers, Otilio Alonso and wife Bea of Rowlett, Lupe Alonso of New Mexico; a sister Alice Garcia of McGregor; two grandchildren, Virginia Lara and Anthony Guerra and a great granddaughter, Carmen Lara.
