Virginia "Lucy" Rae Bartels Blansit

Virginia “Lucy” Blansit of McGregor died later Monday night, June 28, 2010, at the age of 70. Funeral services will be 10:00A.M. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blansit was born October 6, 1939, in Clifton, Texas, the daughter of the late Albert Henry and Margaret Louella (Guinn) Bartels. She attended school in McGregor. During her younger years, she was employed by Vicks Café as a waitress. She later moved to Waco where she was employed as a waitress at Toddle House and Steak and Egg prior to her 1994 retirement for the restaurant business. On April 16, 1994, she married Billie Earl Blansit in Waco. Following retirement, she returned to McGregor in 1995, where she was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. She has enjoyed dance classes, craft work, bingo and gardening. In 2009, her yard was selected by the McGregor Garden Club as a Yard of the Month.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Judy Mangum.

Survivors include her husband Billie Blansit; two sons, Curtis Love of China Spring, Brian Love of Waco; a step-son, Billie Blansit, Jr. of Palestine; two daughters, Debbie Feild of Lovelady, Sheila Love of Lorena; three step-daughters, Earlene Wiese and husband Gerald of Corsicana, Billene Simmons and husband David, Nellene Blansit both of Waco; a brother, Bob Bartels and wife Glenda of McGregor; a sister, Patsy Rappe of Bellmead; nine grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

Active casketbearers will be Brandon Alsip, Clayton Alsip, Colton Alsip, Freddie Bartels, Bradley Feild and Dustin Martinez. Honorary casketbearers will be Brady Feild, Taylor Love, Walker Love, Cameron Martinez and Hagen Rohrer.
