

Ellen’s children and family were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Ellen’s kind spirit, love of reading, zest for life and passion for travel will live on through them.
Her family moved to Hanover Courthouse, Hanover, VA, when she was a young girl and lived at the historical Hanover Tavern in an apartment. The family moved to Fulton Hill, Richmond, VA, prior to beginning school. Ellen graduated from John Marshall High School.
Ellen began her career working part-time at C&P Telephone as an operator and worked at General Medical Corporation, Solite Corporation, and the Virginia Department of Taxation. She also volunteered with FEMA for several years to help people in need.
Ellen is now reunited with Fred McGlocklin and Goldie McGlocklin, her parents; Jackie Harlow and Jennifer Marshall, her sisters; Gordon Marshall, her brother-in-law; great-grandson, Casey.
Deeply missed by her children, Linda T. Smith (Nelson) and Donald R. Taylor (Sheri); eight grandchildren, Kevin Morris (Ashlie), Sherri Ashwood (Adam), Chris Ewell (Elaina), Elizabeth Wilson (Caleb), Regina Scheuermann (Chris), Katherine Akers, Jessica Dills (Steve), Andrew Taylor (Amy); twelve great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kelsie, Skyler, Landon, Kara, Karleigh, Kaleb, Dylan, Coraline, Brayden, Avery and Alex; two nieces, Pam Allen (Rick), Amy Marshall; two nephews; Nick Harlow, Lee Marshall, two great-nieces, Lindsay and Tori; and a great nephew, Zach.
The family will receive family and friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8 at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 9th, at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, Va. 23069. In lieu of flowers, help a child in need in her honor.
