Loving and leading with kindness were at the core of the beautiful soul of Michelle Antolini Ward. While she departed this life far too soon on 04/01/2026, the imprint she has left on our hearts is indelible. She lived with love, fought with courage, and departed with grace.
For those who had the joy of being part of Michelle’s life, you could not have known her without knowing that impish smile, that little dimple, and that heart-warming giggle that filled your soul. She had an unwavering devotion to her family, her work, and her relationships. She will be remembered by her family as devoted, loving, cheerful, and quietly passionate; by her colleagues as an essential team player who was dedicated, loyal, dependable, and knowledgable; and by her friends as warm, fun loving, caring and supportive. While at times seemingly shy or introverted, her inner Italian stubbornness could surface to defend against any that challenged her sense of that which was right and just. She knew the balance of being gentle and being fierce.
Michelle’s greatest happiness was in time spent with family and friends. All who knew her learned from her warm and gentle ways, and they will carry on her legacy of kindness, strength, & hope against great odds.
Michelle was born in Elkins, WV on February 9, 1964 to Romeo & Rosalee Antolini who preceded her in death. She was the adored wife of Ross Ward with whom she shared 33 years of marriage marked by deep love, respect and laughter. She knew no greater joy than being the proud mother of two cherished sons, Dr. Owen Ward of Annapolis, MD and Marc Ward of Naples, FL. She was adored by her loyal golden retriever, Reagan. She Is also survived by six loving siblings—Joan Antolini Phillips, Stephen J. Antolini, Carolyn Antolini Dolly, Cynthia Antolini Soper, Janet Antolini Severino, and R. Thomas Antolini. Her sisterhood bond was particularly deep and unique with many hours of laughter and joy shared during scheduled “Sister’s Weekends” away. She formed profound, enduring relationships with a circle of friends who ultimately became more like family. Always a scholar, she graduated as Valedictorian from Elkins High School. She continued her academic pursuits at Virginia Tech where she graduated with honors with a B.S. in Accounting. Her CPA career spanned 35 years as an experienced, respected & trusted professional in finance. Her latest employment was with Keiter Stephens in Glen Allen, VA, who were not only her colleagues but her extended family.
Until a new day dawns where we are reunited once more, go in peace, dear Michelle. You have been our living witness of kindness and joy. You have left your mark on our hearts, and we will carry your light forward until we meet again.
