Stephen Wright Baker

Stephen Wright Baker, 69, of Ruther Glen, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. He confronted cancer as he did everything in his life with courage, grit , and raw determination. Stephen was born on April 4, 1949 to parents, Ruby and Herbert Baker. Early on, Stephen discovered he had a gift for working with his hands. His passion for cars and racing surfaced at an early age and he carried that passion throughout his entire life. After serving in the Army Reserve, Stephen joined IBEW Local 666 and worked construction as a journeyman electrician. Later in his career, he spent many years working at Reynolds Metals and Phillip Morris, earning a reputation as a man who could solve any problem, whether it was electrical or mechanical. In addition to his work-related accomplishments, he was a member of the Masons, and his character and willingness to help anyone who needed it was demonstrated daily by the way he lived his life. Stephen is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janice, as well as family and friends who loved and knew him well. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, Va. 23069.
