CARLTON, William Archie, 85, passed away on June 30, 2011. He was born December 11, 1925, to the late Archie and Emma Carlton in Hanover County. William was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and an accountant for the RF&P Railroad, retiring after 30-plus years of service. He was a lifelong member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville and an avid horseman. William is survived by his sister, Emma C. Simpkins; nine nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.
