

Celia Ruth Marohn (Nelson), 93, of Medford, OR, was called to her eternal home on September 18, 2023. Her husband David and son Eldon were by her side when she passed peacefully.
Celia was born July 7, 1930 to John Karl and Esther (Steinmeyer) Brandt in Avon, SD. Celia was baptized July 27, 1930. Her parents moved the family of three sisters to Oregon in 1937.
She was introduced to Donald Marohn by her eldest sister and was married in Albany, OR. The couple moved to the Marohn homestead, which was a railroad land grant, in Elk River, MN. They had one son, Eldon. There she was a farm wife for 13 years. In 1960 the family moved to Albany, OR. She was married close to 41 years before Donald went home to be with the Lord.
In 1996, she married David Nelson at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Central Point, OR. They were married 27 years. Together they served side by side many years at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. They also enjoyed square dancing at Rogue Valley Square Dance Center in Medford, OR.
In addition to being a devoted and affectionate wife and mother throughout her lifetime, she operated various heavy machinery such as caterpillars, tractors, plows, combines, trailers, bailers and was skilled at machinery maintenance. She also worked outside the home making bullets, selling Fuller Brush and World Book Encyclopedias. She worked at a cannery for beans and beets, packing pears, weaving baskets, and crafted delightful candies at Harry and David. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals, and preserving food for her household. Celia could be found working and nurturing her beloved flower garden as well.
Her unwavering faith in God was a central part of her life, which she warmly shared with everyone she encountered.
Celia joins her parents John and Esther, her late husband Donald, and her 2 sisters Bernice and Norma in heaven. She is survived by her husband David, her son Eldon (Brejea), David's children Dan (Heidi), Kari Oneslager (David), Kevin , Kali Hill (Trevor), 11 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Central Point, OR, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 am.
