
Jerry "Buck" Deardorff peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord on August 9, 2016. He was home, with his loving family. Born, Gerald Deardorff, on March 4,1942 to Jennie and Gail Deardorff in Eugene, Oregon. Known as "Buck" to family, he was raised in Myrtle Creek, and graduated from Myrtle Creek High School in 1961. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy until 1967. In October of 1967, he met the love of his life, Sonja Carnes in Medford, Oregon. They married on June 29, 1968. They were blessed with a daughter in 1970 and a son in 1973. Jerry and Sonja enjoyed 48 years of marriage. His faith in Jesus began in the mid 1990s and never wavered. Jerry worked as a mechanic, and enjoyed fixing things for others in his retired years. Over the years he enjoyed talking with friends on CB radios, through email, and Facebook. He looked forward to attending reunions with high school and Navy friends, and trips to Las Vegas to visit family. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Judy and Debbie. He is survived by his wife, Sonja, daughter Melissa and her husband Corey, son, Jerad, grandsons, Cameron and Caleb, brothers, Ronald, Bruce, Roger, and Brian and sister, Linda. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were considered to be family. Memorial service will be held at the Medford First Church of the Nazarene, 1974 E. McAndrews Rd., Medford, Oregon 97504 on October 8, at 1:00 pm.
