
John Ruhn, 62, of Glide, Oregon passed away January 14th in Medford, Oregon. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on the 21st of January at Glide Middle School with a meal to follow at Glide Baptist Church 357 Glide Loop Dr. Glide, OR 97443. John Ruhn was born in Roseburg, Oregon to Leila and Vincent on February 9th, 1954. John went to school in Glide and attended Umpqua Community College, pursuing a degree in Law Enforcement. He married Marsha Melvin on June 16, 1979 at Glide Baptist Church. John worked for the Douglas County Road Department and retired after 35 years as a Road Department Foreman. John was a member of Glide Baptist Church and the NRA. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, leathercraft, woodworking, rock hunting, riding his motorcycle, collecting “stuff”, and labeling everyone with a nickname. However he lived each moment to cherish his time with his family and fill his heart with the joy that comes from those he loved the most. John is preceded in death by his mother Leila Ruhn, his father Vincent Ruhn, his nephews Jeff Coxey and Chris Kinyon. John is survived by his wife Marsha Ruhn, daughter Mandy Hatfield and husband Luke of Roseburg Oregon, daughter Megan Blaser and husband Erik of Greeley Colorado, sister Grace Coxey of Newport Washington, sister Nora Parker and husband Charlie of Salem Oregon, and grandkids Addison and Lainey Hatfield and Arlo Blaser and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Coxey, Chris Parker, Clint Horne, Luke Hatfield, Erik Blaser, Brad Jefferson, Rollie Jefferies, Pat McVay, and John Jefferson. John believed in youth development programs. Memorials may be given to the “Umpqua Wrestling Club Re: John Ruhn” at 269 Abbott Street, Glide, OR 97443 or “Glide Baptist Church AWANA” or “Glide Baptist Church Youth Missions” P.O. Box 580, Glide, OR 97443.
