Born December 19th, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Justine and Ed Wiatrak, June worked as a makeup consultant at Grossingers (where she met her husband, entertainer Jim Perry) and later became a top model with Ford Models, garnering numerous magazine covers for publications such as Brides & Good Houskeeping. June mastered many skills over her lifetime, including gourmet cooking, dressage (riding) and interior design, but it was her Pottery and glaze chemistry for which she became most known. She opened her first art gallery in Canada, gathering an enviable collection of Canadian artist to join her. She would say her pottery style was greatly influenced by the Japanese masters but her glaze chemistry was uniquely hers, and unlike many potters, she freely shared her decades of knowledge on her blog Shambhala Pottery.
June passed away peacefully overlooking the Rogue River in Southern Oregon surrounded by family and her dog Buddy. She is survived by her children Erin and Sean Perry, daughter-in-law Nicole and grand children Brandon, Aidan and McKenna. The family will have a small private celebration of life service. The family requests no flowers be sent, preferring donations being made to hospice or cancer research.
