Leonel Marcelo Leyva Favela

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Leonel Marcelo Leyva Favela, a devoted life partner, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully at the age of 81 on January 31, 2026. Leonel was born on May 26, 1944 in Boquilla y Anexas, Chihuahua, Mexico. Leonel lived a life filled with love, laughter with an unyielding spirit.

Despite facing the challenges of deafness from an early age, Leonel never let it define him. He communicated his affection and warmth through his unwavering dedication to his family and his vibrant personality. Leonel was a loving partner to his life long companion, Barbara. Together they built a household filled with joy, teaching their children the values of kindness and resilience.

As a father, he was a guiding light, always ready with a warm smile and an open heart. His children, Lorenzo, Marcello, Valentino, and Consuela, fondly remember his patient ways and his ability to turn any moment into a memorable lesson. Leonels love extended beyond his immediate family; he cherished being a grandfather and delighted in the role of great-grandfather. His eyes sparkled with pride and joy whenever they were around.

Leonel was a warmhearted man, known for his happy and bright disposition. He enjoyed storytelling through his unique sign language, captivating family and friends with tales of his life experiences and the wonders of the world around him. Those who knew him would tell you that he was the most greatful and understanding person they had ever met. He would always be seen dancing even though he could not hear a thing.

Leonel is survived by his life partner, his four children, their spouses, and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Ricky. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the importance of compassion.

Today we share our memories and honor a remarkable man who taught us all to embrace life fully, no matter the challenges we face.
