Ronald James Joseph DuBeau passed away peacefully the morning of March 1, 2018 in his home and in the care of family members. Ron was born January 31st, 1937 in Detroit Michigan, the eldest son of Raymond and Marie DuBeau. He was preceded by his first wife, Lois Virginia DuBeau; his recent wife, Mary Sue DuBeau; and his brother, Dennis DuBeau. He is survived by his sisters Marilyn and Janice.
Ron is survived by his ten children: Ronald Frank DuBeau, Steven Raymond DuBeau, Kathryn Renee Robbins, Patricia Michelle Schnoor, Robert Leonard DuBeau, Charlene Marie Quaschnick, Daniel Joseph DuBeau, Marion Rae DuBeau, Jacqueline Carol Wittig, and Cherie Monique DuBeau. He is survived by 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren as well as his stepchildren.
CSC Ronald J. DuBeau served proudly and honorably in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1974. He served multiple tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, among other awards and acknowledgements. In his post-military career, he was a chef, clockmaker, college instructor, and restaurateur.
Ron was exceptionally talented and was considered a Renaissance Man by his friends and family. He was deeply passionate about cooking. While serving in Vietnam, he planned out a special Thanksgiving dinner for his ship’s officers and crew. Each crew member received a personal feast including a whole Cornish hen made up to look like a miniature turkey. His imaginative and painstaking efforts greatly raised morale and he was recognized with a Navy Achievement Medal. He was also very fond of woodworking and had remarkable skill. He built several grandfather clocks, various furniture items, charming toys such as rocking horses and large train engines, and made extensive additions to his houses such as decks and patios. He was a college chef instructor, teaching classes in the Navy and at community colleges in the San Diego area. He never missed an opportunity to teach cooking to anyone who wanted to learn. Additionally, he was an accomplished restaurateur, with a successful pizza business in Clarkston, WA, a café in Durkee, OR, and a catering business.
Ronald James Joseph DuBeau will be remembered by family at his burial on Good Friday, March 30 2018 at 2:30 PM, Eagle Point Memorial Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR.
