Barbara was a true friend to all. She carried your concerns as if they were hers. She would have made been a role model if she was a pastor’s wife, she had all the qualifications. We kept up with each other after The Lord moved my membership from New Mt Olive COGIC. She didn’t question only prayed. I thank her for allowing her grandson Rea’n to be under my care on the usher board. Our last text was on November 30th, she asked me to pray for Ike. I will never forget how she surprised my husband and the congregation during a Black History program. She shared with the people that Elder Smith was the first black locomotive engineer in the city of Memphis, and the negative feedback that he received. She cared. 
Whenever Kholes would run a coupon special, she would bring a hand full to pass out to the saints, she wanted us to get deals also!! Who can forget the laugh and beautiful smile that she possessed. A picture that i will cherish most is her celebrating Elder Smith’s 75th surprise birthday celebration in 2017. Her love for God and her family will forever be in my heart. #MissingBarbara

I always loved when Barbara came to Cincinnati because she reminded me a lot of my grandmother.  She was loud and said exactly what she thought.  She’d crack me up without even trying.

I think I am still in shock about losing Barbara. Never in a million years would I have imagined the family would lose her, Uncle Leon, Johnny and my Grandma Geneva in the same year.  All that said, God knows best and my grandmother taught me to trust His will.   All this loss hurts like a dagger but we all know...weeping for my endure for a night but JOY will come in the morning.

I will continue to pray for our family and for God to cover Ike in peace.  I love you all.

To the Byrd and Malone family, l will truly miss Barbra she was truly my Friend. To her husband and children she loved you all so much, she talked about you all, all the time. Ike your marriage was a marriage that most couples dreams about. Now I don't have any one to talk to, love 💞 and miss you my friend.

Barbara was a beautiful person and loved the lord,  Why a member at New  Gethsemane/New Direction church  Barbara  worked in whatever area she was asked to help in .  She  served on the usher board,  she assisted her sister Marguerite with the bereavement/repass ministry.  When i heard she and her family would be moving away to Memphis I really hated to see her go.  I am glad that we were able to cross paths and  I know she is resting in  the arms of the lord . 

I use to call Her and Sis Johnson the Bopsie Twin's.  Sis Byrd will be greatly missed. Praying for the Byrd & Johnson Family.

We will certainly miss our dear beloved Sister Barbara Byrd.
She was a faithful member of the New Direction Church usher board, greeting team, bereavement ministry, Sunday school, to name a few… and a wonderful Saint of God. We will always remember her wonderful smile and kindness. May she enjoy her rest in Jesus and, we will see her again on the other shore.


Barbara was a wonderful member at New Gethsemane/ New Direction. Barbara always had kind words, she would always say something funny to make me laugh. Barbara was was full of joy., she was a faithful virtual member even after moving away. I thank God for the Malone sisters Marguerite and Barb.

My Aunt was a very warm hearted, & funny person and always cared for God first, her children & husband , outside of that family meant the world to her. She and my mother ( Marguerite Johnson ) were extremely close as sisters should be as well as her brothers. I remember as child hearing about the stories she and my experienced as children and growing up together.  They even got save as young teens in Memphis Tenn; and responsible to help lead there parents to church. They followed each other to California If you gave one something you had better have something to give the other, that's just how close they were. We always spent ALL holidays together.  My Aunt had this thing she did always when she was talking or asking one of to do something she call us the wrong name. ( about 5 names later) and we would stand right there until she got it right 😆! When she moved back to Tenn; my mother felt as if she was all alone again?  And now that she is gone to Heaven she will be Truly Truly missed.  But just knowing that she is with my father ( NDC Vernon Johnson (whom my aunt loved dearly) and having a good time shouting and PRAISING God gives us something to smile and be glad about. You see my father use to tease my aunt all the time take her child when she was little and then phone my aunt, to tell her Pat. (her daughter) is at my house drinking kool-aid. He loved doing things like that to her what good company it must be in Heaven to have each other. Too God be the GLORY FOR THE  THINGS HE HAS DONE. I (WE) all 💘 her dearly. My heart breaks, but it is Well with my Soul.  IT is well!  IT is well! HALLELUJAH!!! 
 

To the family, my prayers will continually  be going up for your comfort, strength and peace 🙏Truly Sister Byrd was an angel on earth. She always showed so much love for me and her church family New Direction, her beautiful smile lit up the room her love, kindness and service to the people of God will never be forgotten. Love you all!! Rest in the arms of Jesus ❤
