Barbara Elaine Kavelaras Fulgham died peacefully at home with her trademark grace on December 8, 2022 at the age of 79. Both of her daughters and her beloved dogs were by her side at the end. Barbara was born to Louis and Mary Catherine Kavelaras on January 15, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. She loved to boast that she was born in Motown and she was immensely proud of her Greek heritage. Barbara was a life-long Memphian and graduated from White Station High School in 1961. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two daughters, followed closely by her love of fashion and style. She was a devoted dog mom to several dogs over the years whom she kindly adopted from the Memphis Animal Shelter. Barbara found great joy in her years as an entrepreneur, rescue dog champion and adored Yia Yia to her granddaughter. With her unique independent nature, she had a creative flair for decor, gardening and a devotion to family and friends. She made everyone feel special with her smile and famous refined Southern drawl the minute they walked through the door. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. We are grateful to God for the gift of her life and comforted knowing that she will be a fierce guardian angel watching over us and judging our handbag choices. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Elaina Fulgham and Alexia Fulgham Crump, son-in-law Kevin Crump, granddaughter Catherine Elaina Crump, her brother Glenn Kavelaras, and her adorable dogs, Archie and Loretta.
