Betty Jean Holmes

Betty Jean Holmes, a lifelong Memphian, died on June 30, 2015. A graduate of Tech High School Class of 1952, Mrs. Holmes also went to the Miller – Hawkins Business School and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. In her working years she was a secretary at the Peabody Hotel and the former Memphis Press – Scimitar. Her family invites you to a gathering on Sunday, July 5 from noon until a celebration of her life begins at two o’clock in the afternoon all at Memphis Funeral Home located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Doyle Long will conduct the service. She will be buried at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a private service. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 2006, their daughter Jeaninne Hollis and her sister Tommie Greer. She is survived by her children Paula (Matt) Walls, Phillip (Margie) Holmes, and Sam (Terri) Hollis; brother Gordon Tyler; grandchildren Luke Walls, Savannah & Summer Holmes, and Wes, Tyler & Hunter Hollis; and great-granddaughter Bella.
