Betty Wunderlich Rachels, 93, passed away on April 5, 2018. Mrs. Rachels was born on March 6, 1925 in Luxora, AR, but spent most of her life in Memphis. She graduated from Hutchison School and from the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Betty was very involved with Bible Study Fellowship, Community Bible Study, was a volunteer with LeBonheur Children's Hospital, and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
Family was Betty's highest priority. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William "Doc" Rachels; and her brother, Alvin Wunderlich, Jr. Mrs. Rachels is survived by her children, William H. Rachels, Jr. (Wende) of Rockledge, FL, Scott W. Rachels (Stacy) of Brentwood, TN, and Holly Rachels Gilliland (David) of Eads, TN; and seven grandchildren, Erica Lynn Rachels, Kristen Holland Rachels, Scott Wunderlich Rachels, Jr. (Elizabeth), Lillian Rachels Sory (Brandon), Peter William Rachels, William Holland "Trip" Rachels, III, and Boyd Baker Rachels.
The family will gather to receive friends today, Saturday, April 7, between two o'clock and four o'clock in the afternoon at Memphis Funeral Home- Poplar Avenue Chapel.
