Beverly, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, friend, and caregiver passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Her departure leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit, kindness, and caring nature will continue in the hearts of those she touched.
Born on January 1, 1943, the oldest of three and the only girl. She used her love of learning to excel in high school and be accepted in the University of Tennessee Nursing program where she earned her BS in Nursing and spent the next 50+ years doing what she loved, taking care of people and making a difference. Later in life she returned to school to get her Master’s in Art History at Columbia but moved back home to help care for her mother.
Aunt Beverly loved her family so much! She never had children of her own, so all her nieces and nephews, including the greats, were very important to her and she thought of them as her own. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate any occasion with her family, especially the holidays. She also loved her friends. She made friends for life. Some of them from Nursing school in the 1960’2, some when she moved away- that became her replacement family, and people from her church and medical community.
When I think of things that made her smile I think of her love of music, art, and travel. She was a pianist from a young age and loved playing the piano. She liked all music, but the symphony was her favorite. She supported the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and went to many shows over the years. She loved art and travel. We would see cards and paintings from the places she visited. I remember Italy being on the top of the list. Her greatest honor was going to London with the church choir and singing at the famous St. Paul’s Cathedral. She also attempted to learn how to play tennis. After tennis elbow she gave that up. She was an animal lover and absolutely loved her cat, Timothy, who she had for many years. She was never afraid to try anything. She continued to grow by exploring new interest her whole life. She was a really empowering role model who showed us not to fear being alone and to follow your heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael C. Prine; mother, Doris E. Prine, youngest brother Michael Prine, and most recently her younger brother Richard E. Prine.
She leaves behind a whole lot of people who love her dearly: Two sisters in law, Patricia A. Prine and Rosemary C. Prine; three nieces; Valerie Prine Taylor, Elaine Lowe (Rob Lowe), and Melanie Castillo (Alfredo Castillo): two nephews: Mark Prine and Michael Prine; four great nephews; Zachary Snyder, Brendan Lambert, Michael Prine, and Christian Castillo; three great nieces; Brittany Feagin, Katlin Prine, and Isabella Castillo; one great-great nephew Maddox Feagin; and great-great niece, Beckham Feagin.
Those who knew her know that she loved God, and was a devout Christian woman. She was a longstanding member of Church of Holy Communion, where she volunteered her services. She was a bright light in our lives and we will cherish her memory. We also know that she was always late…for everything…but I think she was waiting to depart until the party was over and her family, who have gone before her, would already be there waiting.
There will be a graveside service in Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN., 38133.
