God called Chrissy to her heavenly home on December 26, 2017. She was born on May 19, 1978 and was 39 years old.
She will no longer have the physical pain and struggles she had on this earth. She is free from that now and those who know Jesus will see her again. Chrissy accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 15.
Chrissy loved her family, with all of her heart. She would do all she could for her loved ones, regardless of the constant physical pain she suffered due to two spinal fusion back surgeries.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Cody Mathis, whom she loved dearly, grandparents Gladys (Mathis) Smith. Herman and Sunny Pommer and Uncle Gary Wood.
She is survived by her daughters Ansliegh Mathis and Autumn Mathis. Her daughters were the light of her life and loves of her heart. There was nothing she would not do for her girls and always wanted the best for them. Ansliegh, her first born, has become a most beautiful young lady. Christine was very proud of Ansliegh. When Ansliegh was 16, little Autumn was born. Christine was so proud of the time Ansliegh took to help with her little “sissy”.
Chrissy’s mother Lillian Pommer-Hochstein and step-father “dad” David Hochstein loved her with all their hearts and will miss the daily calls and being able to express how much we loved her and hearing how much she loved us. We will all miss her hugs and beautiful smile. There is no way to express how much she will be missed.
Christine is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Sherrye and David Williams, Cindie Wood Day, Susan Pommer-Arnold and James Arnold.
Christine was an only child and considered her cousins, Mistie (Jose) Serrano, Bo Wood and Jamie Williams, as her sister and brothers. She is also survived by her step-grandfather Chuck Smith.
She loved her fiance, Robert Wickler and looked forward to continuing their life together. She loved his family, Rob’s dad Terry Wickler, Rob’s son Daniel Wickler, whom Chrissy loved as a son, Rob’s sister Rachel (Mike) Toth and family. She was happy that she and Rob were engaged. Autumn is their beautiful little girl. Chrissy was thankful that Rob is such a great Dad.
She will also be missed by her many friends and neighbors.
Chrissy had love in her heart for all God’s creatures. When she was a child, she would bring home stray cats and dogs, which extended into adulthood. She also leaves her dogs, border collie Daisy Lou and pit bull Sarge.
Please pray, for the strength our family needs, as it is most difficult to deal with the loss of our Chrissy. We need to be strong for Autumn and Ansliegh. God truly blessed us with her presence and every moment He granted is cherished.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a Pit Bull rescue group of your choice.
