Connie was born in Kokomo, Indiana on April 7, 1951, to mom Clara Bell (Holmon) Nichols and Red Nichols. She graduated from Kokomo High School with honors, as state Key Punch Champions (this was the leading edge of computers as we know them today). Businesses ran with key punched cards in those days. Manufacturing, payroll, inventory cards all went to I7 where they were key punched mainly into a companies control system. Connie worked for Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, and when son Cory was a 3-year-old, she moved with girlfriend Kathy Trailor to Memphis and landed a job at Union Planters Bank. Later she went to work at I.H., met, dated and married Terry, now husband of 44 years and has been a loved and valuable mom to Cory (Amy), Kevin, Kelly (Steve) and Kristen. Connie will always be remembered for initiating and planning family vacations on the Gulf Coast for the entire family with friends and related family members for several years. She actively participated in Terry’s dream of horse ranching, farming and hot rod cars for the duration of their marriage. She loved music and was known in her circle of friends for her tastes in rock, country, Motown and other genres. Lately, she particularly liked Chris Stapleton.
Her best friend Mary Lynn Cassidy and her sister quickly accepted Connie as the 4th Lynn sister to May Lynn, Becky Lynn and Cindy Lynn, quite a testament to Connie’s personality. She, along with Terry, soon went to work at Smith & Nephew in Memphis and in true form, she developed a fast group of friends and went on more than 1 Caribbean cruise with them. She loved travel and rode many miles with Terry just driving around Arizona, New Mexico and California. She and Terry were in Europe working and on pleasure trips with family and work colleagues. Highlights were trips to Amsterdam, London, the south of France, Spain Munich, Windsor Castle and many stops along the way. She and Terry spent 7 days rafting the Colorado River, rode mules back to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back in 2 days and mile after mile driving who knows where?
She seldom said no. Terry got careful wishing for things later on as Amazon became more popular because it would usually show up on the doorstep the next day or so. Connie was a Christian. She and Terry attended and maintained a membership with Garlad Methodist Church early in their marriage and later moved to Central North Church in Bartlett where she sang in the choir and participated in presentations during Easter and Christmas holidays. Connie was and is a vital and respected member of her family.
She passed away August 28, 2025 at 7:29 AM in Methodist Hospital where in June 2018 she had a liver transplant that sustained her for almost 8 more years of a beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, Terry requests you donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A memorial service for Constance will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
