He was born August 29, 1954, in Millington, Tennessee, to the late Osvel K. Russell and Hazel Mae Newton Russell.
He was a lifelong resident of the Memphis area until recently moving to Smyrna. He had recently sold and retired from his business of 30 years, Arlington Precision Machine Works in Arlington, Tennessee.
He leaves behind a wife, Lisa Watts Russell of Smyrna, two sons, Houston (Heather) Russell, Winston Russell of Memphis, and a step-daughter, Leslie Thornhill (Billy) of Smyrna. He has one living sibling, Donna Crider (Larry) of Long Beach, Mississippi and nine grandchildren, Brittan Russell, Chandler Russell, Jericka Rickman, Kasey Russell, Houston Russell Jr, Savannah Warford, Annabelle Russell, Christian Blythe Russell, and Avery Boaz. Preceding him in death was a son, Dennis Russell Jr.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org).
