Doris Marie Nelson, 85, of Greer, South Carolina but formerly of Memphis, Tennessee died Friday, August 5, 2011 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Messick High School in Memphis, a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Greer and was a member of the Humane Society of the United States. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 11 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the mausoleum in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery at 6444 Raleigh-LaGrange Road in Memphis. A memorial service will be held in South Carolina at a later date. Mrs. Nelson will be buried next to her husband Leon M. Nelson who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Wolford (Brad), son Russell Nelson, sister Gladys Scott, sisters-in-law Velette Phinney and Jenelle Moreland, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
