Having met and married the love of her life at the young age of 18, Dodie embarked with her husband on a lifelong adventure that spanned 6 decades. Some of their exciting family experiences included moving all around the country and living coast-to-coast and even overseas. Her family meant the world to her.
She thoroughly enjoyed many creative hobbies such as knitting, needle-pointing, sewing, and dancing. Both Dodie and Ray were very active in their church and frequently volunteered in the community.
Dodie was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Robert Frank Grissom IV, her brother, David Moore, and her husband of 62 years, Ray Vandergriff. She is survived by her daughters, Tinian (Steele) Molloy and Diane (Warren) Graves as well as her granddaughter, Greer (Gene) Allen, grandson, Griff Grissom, and great-granddaughters: Gillian, Caroline, and Annalise Allen. She also leaves a beloved sister, Francine (Lawrence) Orr, and brother, Mike Moore along with a host of extended family members.
She'll be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors at Kirby Pines Estates. Our family would like to offer a special thanks to the devoted staff at Job's Way for the wonderful care they have provided the past 3 years. Thanks, too, to the staff at Crossroads Hospice for their help, assistance, and support.
A memorial service at the Kirby Pines Chapel is scheduled for 2pm on Monday, December 23rd; Reverend Don Johnson will be officiating.
