

Obituary
Edward Clay Reid was born August 17, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. In 1953, Edward moved with his family to Genesee, Michigan. He graduated from Genesee High School in 1966. He has one brother, Ronald, now residing in Ohio, and two sisters, Natalie Caine, residing in Michigan, and Mary Bonnell (Deceased). He married Donna Williams and became a proud stepfather to Tiffany Sanders and welcomed a set of twins, William Bryan Reid and Winston Bryan Reid (both deceased). In 2013, Edward married Kimberly Marzette and thereupon became the honored stepfather of Kimyona Marzette and Justin Jones..
Edward attended Northern Michigan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he earned M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees in Psychology. Upon graduation from SIU in 1976, he secured a faculty position at Shelby State Community College (now Southwest Tennessee Community College). During his time at the college, he served in various capacities as a professor, department head, campus director, academic advisor, and faculty senate president. Upon his retirement, after forty-six years of service, he was awarded the honorary title of Professor Emeritus.
Edward was a member of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church (DOC). During his tenure at "The Boulevard" he was active in the various financial ministries of the church, including serving as the chairman of the Administration and Finance Commission. He also served over ten years as a member of the Diacdonate and several years as a member of the Poston Housing Board.
As a weekend warrior, Edward enjoyed training and participating in many running events, including 5Ks, triathlons, and marathons, (completing six marathons, including two Boston Marathons). He participated for many years in the Memphis Runners Track Club's annual road race series. At age fifty, he purchased his first bicycle and joined the Memphis Hightails Bicycle Club and rode for several years as part of the original Major Taylor Club. In 2018, Edward and Kimberly joined the new version of Major Taylor Memphis and participated in many local and regional bicycle events. Edward especially enjoyed traveling to the Bikes, Blues, and Bayous (BBB) held annually in August in Greenwood, Mississippi.
Edward was called to his eternal rest on March 14, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, kimberly and a host of family and friends. Also, carrying forth his legacy are many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
