Born in New Castle, PA., Geno left school at age 15 to help support his family during the Great Depression by working in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Due to a lack work in New Castle, his family moved to Buffalo, NY.
At 17, Geno enlisted in the Navy, shortly after the outbreak of World War II, and served with distinction. He was the Coxswain of a boat in the Pacific theater and was involved in the battles at Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Coral Sea, and other campaigns. After the war ended, Geno returned home to Buffalo, married his sweetheart, raised a family, and became a steel worker for Bethlehem Steel, where he remained until his retirement 38 years later.
Geno is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Carmela (Guzzino) Piccione, their daughter, Linda Ann Quill (Charles), and their son, Ronald D. Piccione (Maria). He is also cherished by his grandchildren, Christopher R. Piccione (Lyna), Amy Lent, Shawn Eugene Quill (Karen), Scott-Nicholas Quill, and Charles George Quill, Jr. (Jennifer); his great-grandchildren, Emma Piccione, Leah Quill, Morgan Quill, Caleb Quill, Evan Quill, Elliott Quill, and Georgia Quill, in addition to several nephews and a niece.
