

EVELYN FELTS GREENE, age 93, of Houston, TX, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2012. She was born on December 30, 1918 in Coopertown, TN to the late Mary and Clem Felts. She grew up on a farm in rural Tennessee, having many adventures as one of eleven children. She began her work life in Nashville, Tennessee. After WWII, she met Charles “Chuck” Greene and they married and moved to Houston, TX, where she worked for Houston Oil and began raising a family. In 1960, the family moved to Memphis where she worked for, among other companies, Gulf Oil Corporation and Holiday Inns, working first as an executive assistant/office manager and finishing her career as a litigation paralegal at Holiday Inns. In her retirement, she discovered her artistic tendencies taking first oil and then watercolor classes. She enjoyed her long membership at Second Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and was later active in women’s circle and the seniors’ group. She also treasured travelling and spending time with her large family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a wonderful long life and was cherished by many. Her stories and memories will live in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Greene. She is survived by her sisters Virginia Bargfrede and Ann Jarreau; daughters, Carol Leggett and Janet Greene; her grandchildren, Meredith Rogowski, Tom Leggett, Susan Leggett and Ruthie Leggett; her two great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Henry Rogowski; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, 2 p.m., Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue in Memphis with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends will be received at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 17 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
