Evelyn Yancy Young, 101, passed away in Geneva, OH on December 12, 2020. She was born and grew up in Memphis, TN. Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age in Mount Zion Baptist Church and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Evelyn relocated to Cleveland, OH and was a Nurse for over thirty years. Upon retiring she resided in Cleveland Heights, OH and started a new career working as a Domestic Tour Coordinator. These professions provide her many years of great joy and precious memories. Evelyn enjoyed sharing her life experiences with her Bridge Club members and family. She also loved to garden, operate a booth at Flea-markets and volunteering at the Food Banks in Ohio. She was a member of Saint Mark AME Church in Cleveland, OH and attended regularly until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her son, Henry William Young; parents, Robert and Theodora Yancy; and siblings, Edna, David, George, Robert, Johannah, and Christopher. Evelyn is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pauline J. Young of Fairfax, VA; nieces Edna Mae Covington of Memphis, TN; Margaret Yancy June of Atlanta, GA; Shirley Yancy McClure of Helendale, CA; Judy Yancy Ward of Chicago, IL; nephews David Yancy II of Memphis, TN; Walter Faulkner of Chicago, IL; Ronald Yancy of Murfreesboro, TN, Christopher Yancy Jr of Memphis, TN; great-niece, Johanna Delaney of Los Angeles, CA; and a multitude of other nieces, nephews and family.
