George Alvin Porter, Jr, 51, of Memphis, passed away Thursday June 5, 2014. Mr. Porter was born April 29, 1963 in Memphis, TN and graduated from Wooddale High School. He was employed at Patrick’s Restaurant. Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his brother, John K. Robertson, his nephew, Clay Robertson, Grandmothers, Clara B. Eskridge and Lessie Porter, and an uncle, Jerry Lee Reece. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, that trademark smile and personality left quite an impression. He leaves behind his cherished mother and best friend, Maryleen R. Landers, as well as, his father George Alvin Porter Sr. and his step-mother, Mary Porter. He also leaves behind his sister, Susan Porter-Crowder, his brother, Tommy Robertson, as well as, a host of nieces, a great niece, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many a friend. Visitation will be Thursday June 12 from 11am-12pm with the funeral service to follow at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to the Wings Foundation.
