Hollis Richard Brooks

Hollis Richard Brooks, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Formerly from Germantown, TN he lived in the Byhalia, MS area for the past 45 years. Richard was married to the love of his life Lynda Brooks for 54 years.

He retired from Ford Motor Company Farm and Industrial Division in 1992 after 30 years. Richard retired from the Shelby County Sheriff Dept. in 2006 after 40 years as a commissioned officer in the Reserve Division, he also served in the Patrol, Fugitive and Detective Divisions. During this time he went from patrolman to Assistant Chief. He also worked for Kerley and Rhea Security and Phelps Security as an armed guard. He loved working on his land and designing and welding different projects to make work easier.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Brooks; son, Wayne Brooks (Mary); daughter, Belinda Spray (Kinney) both of Byhalia; and grandson, Joshua Gilmore of Memphis. He is also leaving behind his beloved four legged companion, Blondie. He leaves two brothers, Edwin Stainton (Linda) of Grandall, GA, Frank McGee (Nancy) of Scott, LA; two half sisters, Patricia Roberson (Lloyd) of Starkville, MS, Shirley Swain (Dave) of Oakland, TN; and his aunt, Billie Mayo of Arlington, TN.
