Ivan Trent Webb, age 79, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Trent was born July 31, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee to Milton Ashford Webb and Jean Davis Webb. Trent was saved at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans while his Dad studied at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Trent married Diane Snyder on December 27, 1981 and together shared a wonderful life that wasn't near long enough.
He attended public schools in Memphis, Tennessee, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Bolivar, Missouri. Graduating from Bolivar High School in 1964 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He attended both Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri and the University of Tennessee in Nashville, Tennessee. Graduating from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1974.
Trent served active duty in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1972 and then he entered the reserves until honorably discharged in 1974. During active duty, Trent served on the U.S.S. Independence Aircraft Carrier as an Aviation Electrician.
Trent spent 17 years in the Funeral Service Industry as both a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was on duty at the old Memphis Funeral Home Union Chapel when he was dispatched to drive a hearse to Baptist Memorial Hospital to pick up the body of Elvis Presley. He spent three days at Graceland while the crowds of people paid their respects and then drove the hearse in the funeral procession.
In 1982, Trent began his career in the transportation industry. He was an independent contractor for
FedEx Ground for 32 years leasing trucks and drivers to FedEx. In 2009, he earned the FedEx
Entrepreneur of the Year award and later was honored as FedEx Businessman of the Year. Trent was a member of the 1996-1997 American Trucking Association America's Road Team. This team travels the country doing education and public relations for trucking safety. He ran a trucking safety consulting business, TWI & Associates and was very proud that as a driver he logged over 2.3 million safe miles behind the wheel.
Trent enjoyed NASCAR racing and attended races all over the country. For several years, he sponsored the number 6 car driven by Perry Tripp in the ARCA Racing Series. He also sponsored his granddaughter's Bomber class dirt track racecar. He insisted on purchasing all of her safety equipment personally. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing and boating. He was always helping family and friends with whatever needed to be done. He could do it all.
Trent was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Milton A. Webb and Jean Davis Webb and his brothers-in-law, John Searcy, BT Duncan and Jerry Rutledge.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Webb and son, Kyle A. Webb, Memphis, TN, daughter Heather
Heimbeaugh and husband Tom and granddaughter Megan Heimbeaugh and fiancé Jamen O'Quinn,
Camdenton, MO. His sister, Karen Searcy, Glen, MS, sisters-in-law, Cassie Duncan, Olive Branch, MS and Debbie Rutledge, Hernando, MS. Numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He left us with wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Trent will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from beginning at 1:00 p.m. until funeral services begin at 2:00 p.m. all at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
